I am Vick Shibdoyal, an Artist - a Painter, Sculptor and an Academic in the Visual Arts department at the Mauritius Institute of Education. I obtained a degree in Fine Art and was offered a full-time teaching position in the Secondary sector. Later I moved to the UK to do an MA in Fine Arts at Bournemouth Art Institute. After completing my studies I returned to Mauritius. My multifaceted practice straddles various materials and techniques, moving between painting, sculpture and installation. It is a continuous challenge to deconstruct and reconstruct the self and others. My conceptual frame is that of re-creating, regenerating, renewing and giving life anew. My inspiration and aims have always been shaped and molded according to what is required. I don’t believe in being rooted into and restricted by a single media.

My ardent passion for the arts has always motivated me to create and exhibit artworks and I am intrinsically motivated to reach high professional and aesthetic standards. As artist I do paintings, sculptures and installations. I use paints, different types of supports and different types of scrap materials into the art making process. I create artworks that transmit the messages of positive values, nourish human brains, inspire and at the same time make people reflect upon their actions. I implement new means and medium to revive, to surprise, and invigorate.
